Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is both a healing energy and a spiritual path.

The lost art of healing was rediscovered by Dr. Usui, in 1860. Dr. Usui, a Buddhist Monk, entered into a life long quest to unearth this knowledge, by researching the great religious teachings of the world. Through his investigation, he found symbols which he felt held a special key to the mysterious healings mentioned in the writings. When he had exhausted all written works and personal contacts, Dr. Usui went off by himself to meditate and ask for guidance regarding these symbols.

The information he received has been the study of many people, who find in Reiki a path towards personal growth and expansion of their own energy awareness. Reiki energy is loving, healing and harmonizing. When a Reiki practitioner lays their hands upon a client, the energy is said to be drawn to the area where these attributes are needed. This energy works on all four of our bodies physical, emotional, mental and spiritual to clear symptoms of dis-ease What appears as an illness in the physical body, which is the densest of our bodies, often has its roots in another body. To get in touch with our own spiritual path or reason for being here on Earth, it is helpful to clear these bodies of their built up debris.

**Reiki First Degree is for everyone It opens the crown chakra (energy center) to receive this particular healing ray from God or Universal Source, and also opens the palm chakra to allow the energy to be transferred upon whomever we place our hands.

**Second Degree Reiki adds three symbols. They can expand the energy coming through the practitioner and clear addictive patterns (drugs, foods, relationships, habits, etc.) on ourselves and others. The symbols can also send energy: across distances; backwards to heal past trauma; and forward to heal those at future gatherings, so that any petty differences are set aside and each present can work from their highest self. Also, methods for using these symbols are shared.

**Third Degree Reiki are self-mastery and teaching degrees. A master healing symbol is given at that time, which increases the incoming energy.

Reiki, as we progress through the degrees, provides us with a spiritual support energy to which we have unlimited access. Reiki, as a spiritual path, integrates with most other belief systems as body work systems. It is simple, but a powerful tool for self-transformation. Reiki will bring our "stuff" up for examination. We will get to look at what in our lives has lost value and needs to be discarded, and what needs to be nourished and actively embraced. Reiki is a tool for balancing and harmonizing our lives with love and healing.
